In cooperation with various government regulatory agencies, HP has announced an expansion of its June worldwide voluntary safety recall and replacement program for certain no dvd drive detected batteries. You can look around the HP site to find the recalled system model numbers. In the end I put up a huge three week long battle with HP no dvd drive detected get my system fixed for free, but it never happened.
